What if the world finally got fed up with us? What if the world was sick and tired of us trashing the place? What if the planet really had a soul and that soul had the power to seek it's revenge?
I think people would be terrified of Gaia (Earth's soul), people would respect the earth and stop using up all our resources, letting toxic waste be dumped into our water sources, over fishing, over using and over indulging ourselves with giant SUV's that smog the atmosphere; would all cease to exist. And if not... well then nature would have its revenge.
Gaia would call upon its fiercest weapons; natural disasters. Using tornadoes, hurricanes, earth quakes, volcanic eruptions, avalanches, blizzards, floods, wild fires you name it Gaia would call upon them all to destroy the earth shattering disease known as the human condition. We would be entirely defenseless against such a great force as Gaia. Because we as humans are too ignorant or lazy not to pollute and overuse the resources that the mighty Gaia has supplied for us we most certainly perish under the mighty terror of Gaia.
However we the human race are resilient and crafty at times; which is why a minute percent of our population seems to survive the Gaia disaster of 2012. The nearly extinct Human race, slowly repopulates and thrives living off the land as their ancestors from long long ago once did. Heeding the "warning" that Gaia sent in that faithful yet horrifying new years in 2012 the surviving people of earth raised their children to appreciate and give thanks to Gaia every day. Thus the human race had returned to the land careful not to overuse the resources that Gaia had supplied them; finally the humans were able to live in harmony with Gaia.
